Abstract:
Objective To evaluate zinc therapy in the management of infertility due to semen of poor quality. Methods Oral 0.05% zinc gluconate was instituted to 876 cases of male infertility due to semen of poor quality (group A) and 10% calcium gluconate orally to 116 patients as controls (group B).548 men with normal semen served as normal contrast (group C).Semen routine and zinc content in semen fluid and blood semen were assessed 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after the treatment in all.Their couples were followed up for pregnancy or not. Results There was a significant difference of parameters on semen examination and zinc content in semen fluid and blood serum before and after treatment in group A(P0.05).However,there was a significant difference of these parameters between group C and both group B and group A after the drug administration (P
