Abstract:
Objective To analyse the X-ray characteristics of chronic cor pulmonale and study its diagnostic difficulties and limitation. Methods The X-ray findings of 100 cases of hospitalized chronic cor pulmonale were analysed retrospectively and compared with its ECG and ultra sonography respectively. Results (1)Hypertrophy of right ventricule may be evaluated by the prominence and/or thickened density of the anterior border in lateral projection when the heart was not enlarged.(2)Using overexposed chest film, pulmonary hilar tomography of X-ray or CT could decide the pulmonary hypertention when the measurement of hilar shadow was unpossible.(3)X-ray signs including moderate dilatation of left ventricule, mild dalatation of left auricle and pulmonary congestion or edema were the basis of the diagnosis of cor pulmonale complicated with coronary heart disease.(4)ECG could find hypertrophy of right ventricule with myocardial ischemia and arrthythmia. The size of atrial and ventricle cavity and tricuspid insufficiency and abnormal movement of left ventricle were judged by ultra sonography better than X-ray.Conclusion The diagnostic effects of X-ray,ECG and ultrasonography for cor pulmonale(or simultaneous coronary heart disease),each has the benefits and limitations itself. In order to heighten the diagnostic accuracy using the three methods simultaneously is necessary.
