Abstract:
By means of radioimmunoassay, we studied the effects of electrical stimulation to the nucleus accumbens and observed the contents of leu-enkephalin and met-enkephalin in six brain areas of urethane-anaesthetized rats.In comparison, we also assayed the contents in normal conscious animals.Under anaesthesia and during operative procedure, the content of LEK were significantly reduced in the brain areas except corpus striatum and thalamus. However, the content of MEK was significantly reduced only in hypothalamus. After nucleur accumbens stimulated, the contents of LEK showed significant increase in these brain areas except the thalamus and corpus striatum. The content of MEK was significant increase only in corpus striatum.
