Abstract:
SD rats aged 4 weeks were fed the diets containing high level of selenium(5.68 mg/kg),rich level of selenium(0.73mg/ kg)and(or)high level of Cadmium(33.3 mg/kg).The rats were sacrified at the end of 3,6,9 or 12 weeks after exposure to study the effects of high levels of selenium and cadmium fed to rats on contents of selenium in blood, heart, liver, kidneys, lung, brain and spleen. The results showed that the Contents of selenium in blood and tissues, especially in liver and kidney, were decreased significantly in the rats fed high levels of selenium and cadmium simultaneously in compared with those fed high level of selenium alone. This indicated that the development of endemic selenosis might be affected by cadmium in the area rich in high levels of selenium and cadmium.
