Abstract:
A series of 30 cases of traumatic posterior fossa epidural hematomas is presented. All of them were treated surgically. The mortality of 27 patients treated after the introduction of computed tomgraphy scanning was 3.7% . In view of the undecided features clinically in the early stage of trauma, in case the carualties suffered from a occipital impact with progressive headache, vomitting and deteriorative consciousness (with or without fracture in plaec), the diagnosis of the posterior fossa epidural hematoma should be considered. The authors emphasize the importance of both early diagnosis and treatment in the paper.
