Abstract:
One hundred and sixty-two cases of fetal pyelectasis were found in 453 fetuses examined by renal ultrasonography, representing 38.5% of the total cases detected. The findings suggest that the values of pyelectasis ranging between 0.2 and 0.9cm found in 145 (89.5%) cases may be considered as normal physiologic, while the values of pyelectasis ranging between 1.0 and 1.4cm found in 14 (8.6%) cases should be followed up by dynamic ultrasonic monitoring and the values of pyelectasis more than 1.5cm found in 3(1.9%) cases may be considered as pathologic. Meanwhile, 9 cases with fetal deformity in urinary tract were detected antenatally by ultrasonography, including 5 cases of hydronephrosis, one of unilateral nephrocystosis, one of multiple nephrocystosis, one of single kidney and one of megabladder. Six cases underwent pediatric surgery. Main points for the ultrasonic diagnosis of fetal deformity in urinary tract and its clinical significance are discussed.
