Abstract:
Systematic observations were performed on the affinity constant, (Ka), and maximal binding capactiy (MBC) of brain nuclear receptor to T3 and T3 levels in brain at various stages over the whole life span of rats, with 1 day, 2,6,12 and 18 months of age for representing the infancy, childhood, youth, adult and aging stages, respectively. The results might be summarized as the followings: 1) Ka and MBC of nuclear receptor to T3 in cerebra were double of those in cerebel!a, but both did not alter significantly with age and sex; 2) the brain nuclear endogenous T3 levels were high in childhood and gradually decreased thereafter, and elevated slightly in aging; and 3) the occupancy of nuclear receptor by T3 in cerebra and cerebella of rats generally tended to decrease with age but increase slightly when aging.
