Abstract:
The clamp-on shapping plate implant, composed of a main rod with 3～4 pairs of curved short arms attached on both sides of the rod, possesses multifixing action to the fracture without hindering the movement of the adjacent joints. It is especially useful for the fixation of comminuted fracture of the short tubural bones which are difficult to be fixed by other methods. In the period of 1987.8～1990. 2,64 cases of such fractures had been treated with this device. Followup results in 52 cases showed that all the fractures thus treated healed nicely without any case of malunion. Total duration of external immobilization was relatively shorter and the functional recovery of the joints also much better.
