Methods A retrospective review was performed via the software SPSS13 on malignant tumor patients in the hospital from 2003 to 2007. Results In the past 5 years, 52 377 malignant tumor patients were treated, ranking first among all kinds of patients in the hospital, among which the ratio of male to female was 1.7:1.0 and 74.5% patients were over 45 years old. The top 5 of male's malignant tumors were lung cancer, hepatic cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, and esophageal cancer; whereas the top 5 of females' were mammary cancer, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer and uterine cancer. Conclusion Malignant tumor has a increasing trend in the hospital with the lung cancer ranking the first and mammary cancer rising obviously. High prevalence of traditional diseases like hepatic cancer, gastric cancer and colorectal cancer leads to a concern in the prevention.
