Objective To study the relation between the stepwise compound medication dosage suggested by NAHC antihypertension protocol and the blood pressure classification in patients with hypertension. Methods 439 of patients with grade 2 & 3 hypertension taken NAHC antihypertension medication protocol for 2 weeks were selected as the subjects, thereinto, 211 male patients aged 51.74?11.56 yrs and 228 females aged57.56?10.78 yrs. The NAHC antihypertension protocol included Nifedipine (N), Atenolol (A), Hydrochlorothiazide (H) and Captopril (C) stepwise dosage as N: 3.75, 7.5, 15.0, 20.0 mg/d; A: 6.25, 12.5, 25.0 mg/d; C: 6.25, 12.5, 25.0 mg/d, the dosage should be adjusted according to the blood pressure and pulse. But the dosage of H was fixed 6.25 mg per day as essential medicine for antihypertension. The medication dosage and blood pressure of patients were observed during the trial. Result After teated with the NAHC protocol, all patients' blood pressure could be controlled between 123~135/79~85 mm Hg, which was in or near uplimit of normal blood pressure range. Both systolic and diastolic pressure were significantly decreased (P
