Abstract:
A The effect of progesterone on the intraluminal pressure and peristalsis of the ureter was studied in seven dogs (male 2, female 5). The results showed that the range of variations of the intraluminal pressure was obviously magnified and the peristalsis of ureter smooth muscles was exaggerated after intramuscular injection of progesterone, and the urine volume was about 1.5 times the volume before injection. This might account for the therapeutic effect of progesterone to expel the ureteral stone in the treatment of ureterolithiasis.
