Characterization of rotavirus strains associated acute gastroenteritis among children under 5 years of age in Hai Phong children hospital from July 2001 to June 2002

Abstract:
41 rotavirus strains that were collected at Hai Phong Children Hospital were determined G, P genotypes by Rt-PCR method. Of these, G9 was the most common (75.62%), followed by G4 (12.19%), G1 (4.87%), and untyped (9.75%). For P genotype, P8 (46.34%), P6 (43.90%) were the most common. The common phenotype of rotavirus strains in Hai Phong Children Hospital were G9P8 (43.90%), G9P6 (21.95%), and G4P6 (12.20%)
