Value of real-time shear wave elastography versus tissue elastography in differential diagnosis of early breast cancer

Abstract:
Objective To explore the value of real-time shear wave elastography (SWE) technique versus real-time tissue elastography (RTE) technique in the differential diagnosis of early breast cancer.Methods SWE and RTE was performed for differential diagnosis of 127 lesions in breast.The pathological results were used as the gold standard.The diagnostic efficiency of SWE and RTE for breast cancer,including number of misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis,area under roc curve,diagnostic coincidence rate,and sensitivity,specificity,negative prcdictive valuc and positive predictive value were analyzed.Results As compared with the pathological results,6 cases were missed diagnosis and 7 were misdiagnosed by SWE;3 cases were missed diagnosis and 5 were misdiagnosed by RTE.The diagnostic coincidence rate of SWE and RTE was 89.76% and 93.70% respectively.The area under curve of SWE and RTE was 0.947 and 0.980 respectively.The sensitivity was 86.96% for SWE and 93.48% for RTE,the specificity was 91.36% and 93.83%,the positive predictive value was 85.11% and 89.58%,and the negative predictive value was 92.5% and 96.20%,respectively.RTE was better than SWE.Conclusions Both SWE and RTE ave greater values in the differential diagnosis for early breast cancer.RTE,however,is superior to SWE.
