Abstract:
Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response syndrome caused by infection, which is characterized by multiple inflammatory cytokines and massive reactive oxygen species released. The release of inflammatory cytokines and reactive oxygen species would damage the mitochondrial membrane proteins, mtDNA, etc, which will lead to mitochondrial dysfunction and activate mitochondrial death pathway and even result in multiple organ dysfunction.Exploring the mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction in sepsis may provide more effective ways for the treatment of sepsis.
