Traditional Medicine in the treatment of headache

Abstract:
According to the traditional medicine, headache was due to exopathy or internal injury. Hereafter was the treatment of headache based on the differential diagnosis: Headache (H) due to wind-cold pathogen, treatment is relieving the exterior syndrome with drugs pungent in flavor and warm in property, expelling wind and cold pathogens; H due to pathogenic wind-heat, treament is relieving the exterior syndrome with drugs pungent in flavor and cool in property, expelling wind and clearing away heat; H due to pathogenic wind-dampness, treatment is dispersing pathogenic wind, resolving dampness. H due to hyperactivity of the liver-yang, treatment is calming the liver, suppressing yang hyperactivity of the liver. H due to phlegm-dampness, treatment is resolving phlegm; H due to the kidney-yin (or-yang) deficiency, treatment is nourishing yin (or yang) and supplenenting the kidney; H due to deficiency of qi, treatment is reinforcing the spleen to replenish qi; H due to deficiency of blood, treatment is nourishing the blood, alleviating pain; H due to blood stasis, treatment is removing blood stasis to promote blood circulation, alleviating pain.
