Abstract:
Hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide (HCN)-gated channels belong to a nonselective ion channel family, which are common in neurocyte and cardiac muscle cell. These channels play important roles in the nervous system because of their characterstics of hyperpolarization activation. Many studies have shown that HCN channels play key point in excitatory synaptic transmission and integration of output signal. With the development of research, more evidences have been found to prove that the motor learning is damaged and spatial learning ability is enhanced in HCN1 knockout mice. There are two potential mechanisms leading to these changes, one is the lack of HCN1 in cerebellum cell, and the other is the lack of HCN1 in trisynaptic circuits of hippocampus.
