Abstract:
Objective To compare the clinical effects of antiperistaltic cecoproctostomy and total colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis for the treatment of severe intractable slow transit constipation. Methods According to the actual illness and surgical approaches,47 patients with slow transit constipa-tion(STC)were divided into the antiperistaltic cecoproctostomy group(observation group,n=25)and total colectomy group(control group,n=22). Postoperative curative effects of the groups were comprehensively evaluated. Results The operation time and postoperative stool frequency in the observation group were significantly decreased compared with the control group(P﹤0. 05). Main postoperative complications in-cluded incision infection, retroperitoneal lymph fistula and obstruction of the small intestine, and there were no significant differences in adverse reactions between the groups(P﹥0. 05). Compared with the control group, the observation group had a lower Wexner anal incontinence score but a higher GIQLI score (P﹤0. 05). Conclusion For severe STC patients with basically normal gastrointestinal function, the in-tegrated effects of antiperistaltic cecoproctostomy is superior to that of the colectomy.
