Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the imaging features of intracranial epidermoid cyst. Methods To collect 18 cases surgically and pathologically retrospectively. These patients ranged in age from 29 to 56 years (mean age 45 years );11 cases were males and 5 cases were female;3 cases were examined with CT ,6 cases were examined with CT and MRI; all cases were enhanced. Results 5 cases were located in cerebellopontine angle, 4 cases were located in suprasellar cisten,3 cases were near by sellaturcica,2 cases were located in fourth ventricle, one from the other 1 cases was located in cerebellomedullary cisten and in vermis. Using CT plain scan, the few ones were round or oval. All tumors had differ in mass effect, and had no enhancement. On MRI, quite a lot tumors showed hypointensity that they seem cerebrospinal fluid on T1WI and hypertensity on T2WI; a few the tumors showed hypertensity or heterogeneous intensity on T1WI. Conclusion CT and MRI play an important role and MRI was better than CT in the diagnosis of epidermoid cyst.
