Correlations between expectations and anxiety and depression of cervical cancer patients

Abstract:
Objective To explore the correlations of between expectations and anxiety and depression of cervical cancer patients. Method Herth hope index,self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)and self rating depression scale(SDS)and self-made general information questionnaire were used to investigate the levels of hope,anxiety and depression as well as the correlations between them.Results The overall level of hope in cervical cancer patients was(36.89±4.21)in a moderate to high level. The scores on hope level and keeping intimate relationships with other in the group of patients,aged above 50 years,married,with high school education or above and monthly income of 1,500 yuan were significantly higher than those of the other group patients.The incidences of anxiety and depression were 47.83%and 52.17%, respectively. The general hope level and its three dimensions was negatively related to the anxiety and depression(P<0.01).Conclusions The hope of cervical cancer patients are at moderate to high level and are negatively correlated between anxiety and depression.Improving the hope level of cervical cancer patients can effectively improve patients bad feelings.
