Abstract: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) possess an innate ability for self-renewal and can differentiate into multiple cell types.MSC have been used in cell-based therapy in various disease conditions including tumors.However,as MSC therapy gained popularity among practitioners and rescarchers,there have been reports on thre adverse effects of MSC especially in the context of tumor modulation and malignant transformation.Recent studies have shown that MSC also play an important role in the resistance to various anti-cancer drugs.This review provides an overview of the functional properties of MSC in cancer drug resistance.
