The effect of levocarnitine on cardiac function of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy

Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of levocamitine on cardiac function of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).Methods 40 patients with DCM were randomly divided into control group (n =20) and the experimental group(20 cases).Control group was given conventional drug such as digitalis,furosemide,benazepril hydrochloride,antisterone for treatment,the experimental group was given levocarnitine on the basis of control group.The treatment efficacy and the situation of cardiac function were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate was 95.0％ and 80.0％ in the experimental group and the control group,respectively,the difference was statistically significant(x2 =10.286,P ＜ 0.01).Compared with the control group,the parameters of stroke volume,cardiac output,ejection fraction,and left ventricular fractional shortening rate were significantly increased in the experimental group after treatment(all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Levocarnitine can improve cardiac function based on the conventional treatment.
