Abstract:
Purpose To explore the value of muti-planar reconstruction (MPR) with 64-slices spiral CT in diagnosing solitary bronchioloalveolar carcinoma (BAC).Materials and Methods The CT manifestations of pathologically-proved BAC were analyzed. MPR images were obtained with 3D reconstruction software, and the findings on the MPR images were compared with primary axial images. Results For all 30 cases of BAC, MPR images were significantly superior to conventional axial images in the aspect of demonstrating ground glass opacity, deep lobulation, halo sign, spiculation, pleural indentation, vascular convergence sign and air-bronchogram. Meanwhile, the false vacuole sign was reduced on MPR images. Conclusions MPR with spiral CT, easily performed, can show the morphology of BAC more precisely than routine axial images, which could benefit the diagnosis of solitary BAC.
