The clinical effect study of autologous cultured pure melanocytes for treatment of patients with vitiligo

Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of autologous cultured pure melanocytes for treatment of patients with acral vitiligo.Methods Sixty-two (including 96 skin lesions) patients with acral vitiligo were divided into two groups by treatment methods:narrow-spectrum midwave ultraviolet ray treatment group (group A) 50 skin lesions and autologous cultured pure melanocytes group (group B) 46skin lesions.The clinical efficacy between the two groups was compared.The melanocyte division time (MDT) was calculated.Results The effective rate in group B was significantly higher than that in group A [71.7％(33/46) vs.36.0％(18/50),P＜ 0.05].No significant relationship was found between clinical efficacy with age,position of skin lesions and course of disease in group B (P ＞0.05),however,the clinical efficacy was significantly related with MDT in group B (P＜ 0.05).Conclusion Autologous cultured pure melanocytes is an effective method for the treatment of acral vitiligo,and the MDT plays a major role in affecting its clinical efficacy.
