Abstract:
Objective We discussed the anxiety alleviation effect of nursing interview and health education on patients after radical mastectomy. Methods We divided 60 patients underwent radical mastectomy into the observation group and the control group with 30 cases in each group. The observation group was given nursing interview and health education based upon perioperative nursing. The control group received routine perioperative nursing. Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) was adopted to assess the psychological status on the second day after admission, one day before operation and the 4th day after operation. Results Evident anxiety existed in the two groups compared with normal control. The SAS score one day before operation decreased compared with that of two days after admission in the observation group. But the control group showed reverse results compared with the observation group (P < 0.05). The SAS score 4 days after operation dropped evidently in the two groups. But difference still existed in the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusions Nursing interview and health education could decrease patients' anxiety after radical mastectomy and made them to receive the operation in a good psychological status.
