Production and clinical application of limb wound guard

Abstract: Objective This experiment aimed at exploring a limb wound guard to avoid the clothing being stained by bleeding or drainage on llmb wounds, keep them dry and clean inside, enable the limbs to move conveniently and protect the wounds untouched so as to increase patients' sense of security. Methods 180 surgical patients with limb wounds were randomly divided into two groups, 94 cases in the observation group who used limb wound guards and 86 patients in the control group who did not. The treatment effect and comfort degree were compared between the two groups by X2 test and Ridit analysis. Results Statistically sig-nificant differences between the two groups could be observed in the per capita frequency of clothing replace-ment, the wound infec- tion rate, the average days of hospital stay and patients" comfort degree. Conclusions The results indicate that using limb wound guards can prevent the clothing from being polluted by wound exu-clarion, keep them dry and clean inside, make the patients feel comfortable and reduce wound infection, facili-tate the activities of the injured limbs, reduce patients" fatigue and discomfort, protect the wound untouched and therefore, increase pa-tients' sense of security.
