Comparison of skin prick test and skin press test in detecting allergen

Abstract: Objective To observe the tolerance and positive reaction of skin prick test and skin press test in patients with anaphylactic disease. Methods 80 cases of patients with allergic asthma, rhinitis and other anaphylactic disease were tested by the two tests with specific allergens simultaneously and patients discomfort and scare degree was evaluated, the detection results of specific allergens by the two tests were al-so compared.The results underwent statistical description andχ2 test. Results The difference of the posi-tive rates of allergens between two tests had no significance.Most patients were willing to accept skin press test. Conclusions The results of two tests were similar. But patients receiving skin press test suffer little pain and less fear and are easy to accept the test. So skin press test can substitute for skin prick test in clinical practice.
