Abstract:
Dupuytren's contracture is characterized by the development of palmar fibrous nodules and bands over the fourth or fifth metacarpal head that may eventually cause contracture of the fingers. It has been well recognized in orthopedic literatures, but not in dermatologic ones. Herein we describe two typical cases of Dupuytren's contracture in middle-aged men with asymptomatic, multiple, rubbery, subcutaneous nodules of the palms. Histopathologically, the palms showed well-circumscribed fibrous nodules which contained numerous spindle-shaped cells with cross-banded nuclei, which stained green with Masson trichrome and also positive with antiactin antibody, all indicative of myofibroblast.
