Abstract:
OBJECTIVETo construct a three-dimensional (3D) model of the mandible containing the teeth based on the Virtual Chinese Human Data.
METHODSFrom the previously established Virtual Chinese Human Dataset, 280 consecutive images containing the mandibular region were taken as a source data for reconstruction of the 3D mandible model. The Photoshop software was adopted for 2D image processing, and a special medical reconstruction software was used for the 3D reconstruction of the mandible model, followed by software-based smoothing and rendering of the model.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONA 3D model of the mandible was successfully reconstructed, which allows a clear 3D observation of the anatomy of the mandible.
