Clinical feature and surgical treatment of neurinomas and spinal meningiomas

Abstract:
The authors reported results obtained in a series of 34 patients operated on for Spinal meningiomas and neurinomas (23 neurinomas and 11 meningiomas). They are critically analyzed. This series was similar to those of other authors with regarding to age, sex, location of the tumor and clinical presentation. Before surgery there were 3/34 patients with radical compression: pain only (local, radicular) pain and slight motor deficit, 11/34 patients (32.55%) with severe motor deficit, sensory deficit or severe motor deficit. 20/34 patients with paraplegia, severe sensory deficit and sphincter deficits. Posoperative results: excellent 8; good 6; fair 4, bad 2 and dead 1.
