Effect of Thoracic-Lumbar-Sacral Orthopedic (TLSO) brace jacket on treatment of idiopathic scoliosis

Abstract:
Idiopathic scoliosis with Cobb angle between 20o and 40o is more common in female than in male, especially in adolescent girls (10 to 16 years). 18 patients with idiopathic scoliosis were treated at B¹ch Mai Hospital using TLSO brace jacket. The result showed that this brace jacket is convenient and does not impede the activities. It can correct about 30% in initiation. The level of correction decreases over time of bracing and after removing brace. After 2 years, there were 9 cases have improved by 50% in curve. The brace can prevent progress of scoliosis with Cobb angle of 40o.
