Abstract:
After investigating 645 case reports on urinary tract infection (UTI) hospitalized and treated at Nephrology Department at Hai Ba Trung Hospital from 1996 to 1999. The authors note that UTI is most common problem among nephro urinary diseases. The incidence in female is twice more than in male. Common clinical manifestations are polyuria (72.9%), urodynia (71.1%), uronephralgia (64.5%), turbid and dark colour urine (60.2%). Pathogens include E. coli, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas and Enterobacter. Therapeutic duration with antibiotics was almost longer than a week, with 11-14 days on average (37.2%). 34.9% of patients were treated with antibiotics for more than 15 days.
