Therapeutic effect of acupuncture on postoperative recovery of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVETo evaluate therapeutic effect of comprehensive therapy of acupuncture as main in postoperative recovery of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc.
METHODSSeventy-seven cases were randomly divided into an observation group (n = 40) and a control group (n = 37). The observation group were treated with acupuncture at Shenshu (BL 23), Dachangshu (BL 25), Baliao (BL 31, BL32, BL33, BL 34), Zhibian (BL 54) combined with polarized light, and the control group with western medicine dikeleke 75 mg, once daily. They were treated for 1 month.
RESULTSThe cure-markedly effective rate was 95.0% in the observation group and 75.7% in the control group with a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The average VAS score was 2.28 +/- 0. 96 in the observation group and 3.49 +/- 1.45 in the control group with a significant difference between the two groups (P <0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe comprehensive therapy of acupuncture as main can obviously increase the therapeutic effect in the postoperative recovery of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc.
