Abstract:
We report here an uncommon case of herpes zoster in an 11-month-old infant. She had suffered from varicella when about 100 days old. When 11 months old, she presented with unusual skin eruptions on the right trunk. On physical examination, multiple grouped erythematous papulovesicles were seen on the right upper chest, the right axilla, and the right back along the T4 dermatome. Papanicolaou smear from freshly opened vesicle showed multinucleated giant cells, and she was treated by oral acyclovir 200mg daily for 7 days. After 7 days, the lesions disappeared without any sequelae but mild pigmentation.
