Abstract:
The survey was carried out on 2085 school children during the school year 2001-2002 at Tien Du distric (Bac Ninh) and Yen Mo distric (Ninh Binh). The proportion of school children having traumatic injuries amounted to 151.1/1000 (Tien Du) and 121.5/1000 (Yen Mo). Male school children were 1.1-2 times more likely to have traumatic injuries than female school children. Traumatic injuries in the home were 2.8-3.2 times more than traffic injuries. Traumatic injuries declined gradually with age. Most injuries were in the extremities: bruising, swelling and contusion
