Abstract: RNA was extracted from stored bone marrow smears, expression of WT1 gene in the patients with MDS was examined by means of nest RT-PCR. The results showed WT1 gene was highly expressed in some cases of MDS. Expression rates were higher in the patients with RAEB and RAEB-t than those patients with RA and RAS. WT1 expression is related to the advance of MDS. The detection of WT1 gene expression by RT-PCR might be useful for assessing disease progress in the patients with MDS.
