Abstract:
The quality of 28 batches of Japanese encephalitis vaccine (JE vaccine) produced at the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) has been assessed by electromicroscopic technique. It was found that the vaccine has high level of purity in which the viruses were observed as homologous and complete particles with the inner core sursphericing capsid and spike 45-50nm in diameter. This study identifies also a protein derived from mouse brain; strange viral structures were not observed in the vaccine.
