Effect of sucrategel regimen with total active ingredients extracted from betel leaves on chronic gastritis with Helicobacter pylori and on H. pylori eradication: a histopathological study.

Abstract:
The study involved 37 patients with chronic gastritis and HP (+) who were diagnosed definitively by endoscopy, histopathological study, urease test and culture. A combination of Sucrategel with Betelvine, the total active ingredients extracted from betel leaves, was used for treatment. Histological findings showed that the combination had effect in HP eradication with rate of 59.46%, in anti-inflammation with rate of 51.35% and in decreasing the severity of inflammation. In the meantime, it had effect in normalizing the mucous membrane with chronic inflammation. However, no effect was observed on bowel dysplasia.
