Abstract:
In 21 selected patients suspected of sustaining major renal trauma we evaluated with CT scan primarily and compared the findings on computerized tomography with those of excretory urography in 13 patients. We conclude that computerized tomographic staging for renal trauma is more sensitive and specific than excretory urography, and used primarily when multiple traumatic injuries and/or major renal injury are suspected, which has facilitated greatly the diagnosis and treatment of kidney injury.
