Abstract:
Fibronectin, a kind of glycoprotein, which is present in human plasma and extracellular matrix, has been reported to facilitate wound healing on various corneal disorders such as trophic ulcer and recurrent corneal erosion. In this experimental study, we observed how the temperature, duraion of storage and concentration of fibronectin effect its biological activity. The temperature, duration of storage and concentration of fibronectin were correlated to biological activity statistically(p<0.05). The temperature of storage had a great influence to biological activity. When stored at 4degreeC, the biological activity was well maintained up to 2 weeks, but the biological activity had dropped suddenly after the 3rd day when it was stored at 35 degrees C. This result suggested that fibronectin eyedrop had the decreasing effect as the stored temperatre rises and the stored duration increases, therefore it is recommended that fibronection eyedrop must be made fresh every two weeks and be stored at 4 degrees C.
