- Abstract: Electrogustometry has become one of the most important and useful diagnostic methods as has audiometry and vestibular function tests in the otolaryngological field. Although much literature, concerning the facial nerve and gustatory function have appeared, still problems remain to be solved in future research. To these points of view, the anatomical relationships of the nerves associated with gustatory function were reviewed and discussed. And also the clinical importance and usability of electrogustometry is emphasized.
