Abstract:
The aim of this study was to define the prognostic value of echocardiographic measurements about left ventricular function in relation with one-year cardiac mortality in myocardial infarction patients. 63 patients were divided into two groups: 25 in fatal group and 38 non-fatal group. Differences in left ventricular function (EF%, E-IVS, FS%, ET...) were found in comparison between fatal patients and survivals. Left ventricular ejection fraction (EF%) decreased significantly in the fatal patients. Prognostic value of EF% in relation with one-year cardiac mortality is Sensitivity: 64%, specificity: 84%, positive prognostic value: 72%, negative prognostic value 78%, under ROC area: 0.84. Special EF% 40% risk mortality increased 3.84 time. Global left ventricular systolic function is a major determinant of mortality in patients with myocardial infarction
