Clinical characteristics and high risk factors in deaths due to the myocardial infarction

Abstract:
Study on 275 patients, of whom 265 were males, and 10 females, 46-86 years old, diagnosed myocardial infarction (MI), and have been treated at Huu Nghi Hospital since January 1990 to December 1997. Some remarks were noted: 37.8% of patients were admitted to hospital (within 6 hours), and 62.5% had complications (14 kinds of complications). Recovery averaged 32-48 days of treatment with classical management. Mortality reached 33%. High risk factors causing death included: multiple complications, cardiac rupture, cardiogenic shock, heart failure, ventricular fibrillation, loss of blood pressure (BP) or sudden reduction of BP, antero - posterio MI, recurrence of MI and the elderly. The authors recommend using thrombolytics if there are no contraindications
