Value of ultrasound in the diagnosis of the congenital defect of urinary tract in children: report of 70 cases

Abstract:
A retrospective study was carried out in 70 children admitted to the Nhi §ång hospital during 1/1996 - 9/1997 received the ultrasound of diagnosis of the congenital defect of urinary tract the results were compared with the operation results and results of other imaging diagnosis. The results showed that: the correct ultrasound 63/70 with sensitivity of 90% in which 25 cases of the renal water retention due to the connection stenosid, 14 cases of the double kidney, 5 cases of the posterior urinary tract valve, 7 cases of the gallbladder - renal reflux, 6 cases of urinary stone, 15 cases of Megaureter, 8 cases cystic urinary tract, 4 cases of the renal atrophy... with some congenital defects. These results suggested that the ultrasound may be better than the method of invasive diagnosis
