Effects of N2O-O2-Fentanyl and N2O-O2-Halothane Anesthesia on ADH ( Antidiuretic Hormone ), Cortisol and Osmolaltiy in Serum and Urine.

Abstract:
Fentanyl is one of the most effective opioid agents, which reduces the stress endocrine response. To compare the effects of fentanyl on endocrine response with those of halothane, the authors measured serum ADH concentration, serum cortisol concentration, serum osmolality, urine osmolality under anesthesia with fentanyl-N2O-O2 or halothane-N2O-O2 respective1y. The subjects were 14 (fentanyl group 7, halothane group 7) ASA class 1 surgical patients. The above parameters were measured before induction, 5 min after intubation, 5 min after skin incision, and after recovery. The concentration of serum ADH increased significantly after recovery in both groups, but there was no significant difference between the two groups. The concentration of serum cortisol increased significantly after recovery in both groups and significantly increased after recovery in both grups and was significantly increased after intubation and after skin incision in halothane group compared with the fentanyl group. The urine and serum osmolality were revealed no significant differenee in intra-and intergroup.
