Abstract:
The HLA loci of the human Major Histocompatility Complex (MHC) located on the short arm of human chromosome 6 encoded two distinct classes of highly polymorphic cell surface molecules. These play a central role in the regulation of the immune system, in transplantation biology as well as in susceptibility to a number of diseases including auto immune disorders. The PCR-based reverse line line-blot assay that has been performed in Cord Blood Bank in HCM Haematology and Blood Transfussion Centre (CBB, HCM HBTC) has many advantages over the more traditional technique used for HLA typing (serological and MLR): -Whole blood is used.- Not necessary to isolate live class I cells Reagents are prepared synthetically.
