Abstract:
Twenty two children, aged from I year to 15 years, with urinary stones have been admitted to Seoul National University Hospital from 1970 to 1983. Clinical, laboratory, radiographic and follow-up findings are described. Incidence of lower urinary stones were high, 31.8%. Stones were multiple in 14 cases, bilateral in 2 cases. Urologic lesions were associated in 4 children. Three of these were congenital, one was posttraumatic. On longitudinal looking, recurrences occurred in 5 cases. Reoperations were necessary in 3 cases. One of these was nephrectomy, 13 years after pyelolithotomy. We conclude recurrences are not low in childhood and long follow-up should be maintained.
