- Abstract: Ferroptosis is a novel strategy for regulating cell death, and its occurrence is closely related to intracellular iron metabolism, lipid metabolism, amino acid metabolism, and various signaling pathways. Ferroptosis plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of acute kidney injury (AKI). Ferroptosis may serve as an important target for the treatment of AKI caused by various reasons such as ischemia-reperfusion injury, nephrotoxic drugs, rhabdomyolysis syndrome, sepsis, and so on. This paper reviewed the regulatory mechanisms of ferroptosis and its research progress in AKI.
