Abstract: This article systematically reviews the role and relationship of heme oxygenase （HO） in the pathogenesis of metabolic associated fatty liver disease （MAFLD） and discusses the biological function of HO， its expression in the liver， its association with lipid metabolism， and its regulatory role in inflammatory reaction and oxidative stress， in order to reveal the potential therapeutic targets and mechanism of HO in MAFLD and provide new perspectives and directions for future treatment strategies.
