Abstract:
Along with the steady increase in single-person households, interest in nutritional management of diabetic patients in such households is increasing with the combination of awareness of the problem of undesirable intake patterns of single-person household. Single-person household skip breakfast at a higher rate than multi-person households, have a higher frequency of consumption of home meal replacement and processed foods high in sodium and saturated fat, and lower intake of dietary fiber. Since this type of intake increases diabetes risk and negatively affects blood sugar management, nutrition management is required considering the characteristics of single-person households, and the development of customized protocols and nutrition education materials will be necessary.
