Abstract:
Maxillary sinus cancers, constituting a minority of head and neck malignancies, exhibit a diverse range of histological subtypes, each necessitating a nuanced approach to diagnosis and treatment. Within this spectrum, mucinous adenocarcinoma stands as an exceedingly rare variant, and this case report aims to provide a thorough examination of its clinical, radiological, and histopathological dimensions within the context of maxillary sinus malignancies. Surgical resection is considered as treatment of choice for this kind of tumor. A 68-year-old male underwent total maxillectomy using Weber-Ferguson incision for maxillary sinus tumor in our department. The pathological report of tumor was revealed as mucinous type adenocarcinoma. The specimen was observed thoroughly, and based on immunohistochemical findings, diagnosed as mucinous type adenocarcinoma. So, we present a rare case of mucinous type adenocarcinoma arising from the maxillary sinus.
